Only a few Miller family photos have been added thus far. Pete and Dora Miller were both born in Russia, met and married in Longmont, Colorado, and lived much of their lives in Whitney, Nebraska.
Alex Miller, John Miller, Louis Bird, and Fred Miller. Taken in "downtown" Whitney, Nebraska. The white building at the far right served as the U.S. Post Office for many years. This was probably taken in the mid-1950s, perhaps at about the time of Pete Miller's funeral in June of 1957.
My memory tells me this was taken at Thanksgiving time at Bill and Marie Derrick's home in Whitney, Nebraska -- probably around 1962. Dora Miller (left) and her daughter-in-law, Lettie Miller, are seated. Bill Derrick is holding up the doorway.
Marlene and Darlene -- or is it Darlene and Marlene? These are the twin daughters of Evalyn (Miller) Snyder. This photograph has always intrigued me, because I don't know WHY the girls would have been at KCSR, the radio station in Chadron, Nebraska. It was probably taken in the early 1960s.
Evalyn Miller as a young woman. She was 20 years old when she married Johnny Snyder at Rapid City, South Dakota in 1951.
This is one of my favorite photographs -- and one of the few photos I have of Fannie Miller before she was involved in a tragic automobile accident that left her bedridden and eventually took her life. Fannie is at left. Lettie Miller is on the right. Date and location of this photo are not known, but it would have been some time before Fannie's September 1937 accident. She was just 19 years old when she died.
Bruce Miller and cousin Jan Miller. This was taken in front of the Pete and Dora Miller home in Whitney, Nebraska, probably in about 1943. Thanks to John Elgar Miller for identifying the dog, Rusty, that belonged to grandpa Pete Miller. Although the pooch appeared black and white in color, when one pushed the hair back to reveal the hair nearer the skin, it was a rusty color. Apparently, Rusty followed Pete wherever he went around Whitney.
Another favorite photo. This is Bill Derrick, relaxing at the 1988 Miller family reunion at Wilson Park in Chadron, Nebraska. Many folks thought Bill was stubborn (even ornery, sometimes)! I knew him only as a gregarious uncle who was always quick to tease and enjoyed telling stories. His smile says it all!
The same 1988 reunion of Miller family members. This is Bill and Marie Derrick at right. Dori Derrick and her dad, Dick, are standing at left. Kathy Derrick, afflicted for many years with MS, is in the wheelchair. She had an indomitable spirit.
Cute! Guess that would be Charlie and Wayne in front -- Pete and Jean in the back. The children of Fred and Charlotte Miller. This picture was likely taken in Metaline Falls or Spokane, Washington. It is undated.
Hank and Fred Miller. No date. No location.
