Our thanks to Lorraine Weideman of Vancouver, BC for providing us with this splendid photograph of the Heinrich Henry Weideman family.
It was probably taken in 1909 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shown left-to-right are: Henirch Henry Weideman, oldest son Henry Weideman, wife Katherine Elizabeth (Steinbrecher) Weideman, and second son David Weideman.
According to Lorraine Weideman, her family surname has taken numerous forms over the years. She has seen it on documents as Wiedemann, Weidemann, Wiedeman, and Weideman.
Both Henirch Weideman and Katherine (Steinbrecher) Weideman were born in Unterdorf, as was their oldest son, Henry.
Katherine Elizabeth (Steinbrecher) Weideman was born in 1879. She passed away in Winnipeg at the age of 76 years. Thanks to Lorraine Weideman for this photo of her great-grandmother.
This undated photograph of Eva (Miller) Behm was likely taken in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Mrs. Behm was born in Unterdorf in 1867. She married Heinrich Peter Behm in Russia, and they and their family later migrated to the United States. She died in 1946 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Our thanks to Gayle Behm of Scottsbluff for providing this photograph.
This is the marriage photograph of Peter and Dora (Eckerdt) Miller, taken in March of 1909 at Longmont, Colorado. Peter was born and raised in Unterdorf; Dora came from Schwed, on the east side of the Volga. They did not meet until arriving in the United States.
This may well be the only photograph we have that was actually taken in Unterdorf. Bob Weigand of Kent, Washington provided this picture of Amelia (Weideman) Weigand. It was probably taken by a neighbor.
This is Marie Katherine (Steinbrecher) Wiedeman, who was born in Unterdorf on 8 July 1856 and died in Gering, Nebraska on 7 January 1941. She was the daughter of Katherine Lei and Heinrich Steinbrecher, and the wife of Phillip Wiedeman. Our thanks to Heide Langenbeck for providing this photograph.
