LCHS Fall Tour (October 2008)
Motorists coming up the last hill from Deadwood to Lead on U.S. 14A might find it easy to miss the old Black Hills and Fort Pierre Railroad roundhouse. It's perched on the east side of the road and across the street from the Golden Hills Inn.
The building is undergoing a renovation costing about $2 million; when completed, it should become a significant destination for tourists, history buffs, or folks just looking for a good cup of coffee or something to eat. A restaurant and gift shops are among the businesses expected to occupy the building when work is complete.
