WHITNEY IRRIGATION DISTRICT Box of Historical Photographs and Information. Most of this box contains the papers and several photographs that appear to have been collected by George Lawrence, long-time Secretary for the Whitney Irrigation District. Many of the photographs have "Whitney Irrigation Dist." written on them, and many others have "Jennie Lawrence" written on them. Others have no information. While most of the photographs are obviously related to the Whitney Irrigation District or the village of Whitney, there are some that appear to be unrelated. All materials were made available by Dixie Thompson, Secretary of the Whitney Irrigation District. Captions here are as found on the backs of the original pictures, except where "NOTE" has been added by Larry Miller. Please e-mail me if you can add further information for identifying any of these photographs. Thanks!

Now Ofe place 1966
Gene McGannon moved this house into Whitney - 1980
NOTE: This undated photo has a caption reading "Chadron looking southwest." Richard Bates of Chadron identifies the well-built house in the right foreground as 511 Chadron Avenue. The house across the street (left side of photo) is 510 Chadron Avenue. The house on the corner of the next block is probably 603 Chadron Avenue. The picture was likely taken from atop the Dawes County courthouse. Thanks, Richard.
NOTE: This is on a post card postmarked in Hot Springs, South Dakota, but there is no visible date. The card was addressed to Mrs. Geo. Lawrence in Whitney. Can anyone identify folks in this picture?
