One of the joys of living in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming is the opportunity to get out and experience its beauty -- up close. One of the best ways to do that is by participating in monthly Moon Walks. To enlarge any of the photos in the gallery, simply click on the image.
This serene image of Meeker Ranch was created by Hill City artist Jon Crane, who has been active in helping organize preservation of the buildings on the ranch. He has committed 15% of earnings from his Meeker Ranch artwork to the Black Hills Historic Preservation Trust.

By 8:00 p.m., the storm had moved far off to the south -- as shown in this photo.
There was no evidence of a full month during this walk.
Moon Walks are held on Saturdays close to the official full moon. Most of the walks last about 1-2 hours.
Meeker Ranch is open to the public; however, access for the last mile is closed to vehicles.
Visitors should be on the watch for wire, holes, etc. that may have escaped workers who've been cleaning up the property.
