1962 graduates gathered in Chadron during 2007 Fur Trade Days. On Friday, July 13th, they socialized on the courthouse grounds. On Saturday morning, July 14th, they participated in the Fur Trade Days parade. That evening, they gathered for a nice dinner at the Best Western banquet room. These are a few photographs taken during the parade and dinner, celebrating 45 years since these folks left dear old CHS! Click on each photo to see a larger image. If you have photos we can add to this site, please e-mail them to email@example.com Thanks to Marie (Hawthorne) Smith and Sherry (Bach) Phelan for sharing some of their photos!
"Perhaps if I pretend I'm praying, he won't take my picture and will go away." Karen (Galey) Miller.
Another shot of Dennis and Charlene Boggs.
Thanks to Marie (Hawthorne) Smith again for this candid photo of Shirley (Lecher) Church, who traveled from San Diego for this reunion of the Class of '62. Chadron trivia buffs may remember that Shirley's mother ran the Chadron Ad-Visor. If memory serves me correctly, the Ad-Visor was co-located with the Record Shop, where you could buy the latest 45-rpm records!
Gary Thompson (Class of '61) with Mike Hoevet (Class of '62). Almost a Weinmeister, Mike was a gracious provider of a near bottomless barrel of wine. An appropriate responsibility for the Senior Class Vice-President!
"Does anyone remember which teacher was in charge of 1st period Study Hall?" Denny Boggs, Corey Sendel, and Larry Trout reflect on old times.
Sandy (Konrath) Thompson and Bernard "Budge" Cripps. Perhaps Budge is buttering up the Senior Class Treasurer in order to finance a building project.
Shirley (Lecher) Church and Wayne Jones.
Lining up for a picture isn't as easy as it seems. With her back to the camera, Pam (Chicoine) Littrel entertains back row folks with a few local anecdotes. Standing left-to-right are Marvin Blundell (partially hidden), John Crowe, Rebecca (Moody) McFee, Wayne Jones, Karen (Galey) Miller, and Linda (Van Sant) Marshall. Sitting are Corey Sendel, Mina (Hawthorne) Duncan, Marie (Hawthorne) Smith, and Karen (Kindig) Schlais.
A bit of conversation before the official photographer takes pictures. Standing left to right are Budge Cripps, Ron Wineteer, Mike Hoevet, Larry Trout, Darlene (Brewster) Davis, Marvin Blundell, Pam (Chicoine) Littrel and John Crowe. Seated are Sherry (Bach) Phelan, Penny (Shumway) Hutchison, Karin Fischer, Shirley (Lecher) Church, and Corey Sendel.
Someone suggested -- and perhaps it was photographer Peter Bahr -- that trying to get these folks to settle down for a picture was like trying to herd butterflies!
