1962 graduates gathered in Chadron during 2007 Fur Trade Days. On Friday, July 13th, they socialized on the courthouse grounds. On Saturday morning, July 14th, they participated in the Fur Trade Days parade. That evening, they gathered for a nice dinner at the Best Western banquet room. These are a few photographs taken during the parade and dinner, celebrating 45 years since these folks left dear old CHS! Click on each photo to see a larger image. If you have photos we can add to this site, please e-mail them to dakotamillers@rushmore.com Thanks to Marie (Hawthorne) Smith and Sherry (Bach) Phelan for sharing some of their photos!
Chadron (Nebraska) High School Class of 1962
"The Cardinals"
After a nice picnic on the Dawes County Courthouse lawn on Friday evening, classmates gathered at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, July 14, to ride on a float in the Fur Trade Days parade.
Major transportation provided by Charlie Littrel of Littrel Construction.
Charles Lloyd Littrel. Owner of Littrel Construction. Driver of the Class of 1962 float. And a 1952 graduate of Chadron High School. Most important, however: husband to Pam (Chicoine) Littrel!
Early arrivals in front of the "new" Chadron High School.
Mina and Marie......or is it Marie and Mina? Anyway....the Hawthorne twins were both able to attend reunion festivities. Our best intelligence (and I hesitate using that word to describe my thought process) indicates that Marie (Hawthorne) Smith is on the left. She and husband Randy live in Aurora, Nebraska. Mina (Hawthorne) Duncan, on the right, is widowed and lives in North Platte.
Field Marshall Karen (Kindig) Schlais scopes out traffic as the truck moves into position. Marie and Mina look on.
Sandy (Konrath) Thompson and Karen (Galey) Miller spent a lot of time hanging around this red Corvette convertible -- property of classmate Dennis Boggs. That's Karen's granddaughter, Tessa Miller, with them.
The flatbed moves into parade position on 10th street. Hmmmm......about that sign....
