e-Bay was the source for an 1883 map acquired by Jerry Bryant of Deadwood. The document included these drawings of old Deadwood.
Thanks to the Adams Museum and House for sharing these photographs of pioneer aviator Art Smith. Smith visited Deadwood in 1912, making what is reputed to be the first airplane landing in Lawrence County. We earlier indicated that the woman in this photograph with young Smith may have been his wife. Not so, according to author Norma Kraemer, who has sent us a photo of Smith and his wife Aimee. And we would agree. Perhaps someone might take a shot at helping identify this young lady?

By the way, Kraemer's book "South Dakota's First Century of Flight" is expected to be available late this summer (2010). You may correspond with Norma at this e-mail address: kraemer.norma@gmail.com.
