It's also in the vicinity of Deadwood Dick's old cabin, which no longer stands. But remnants of the structure remain, and Deadwood Archvist Mike Runge points up toward Dick's gravestone.

Taken at the American Legion Club in Chadron on July 6, 2012, these were a few of the many fellows who attended a tribute gathering for Coach Gordon "Fuzz" Watts. Coach Watts led the very successful Cardinal football program for 11 years; he died in June of 1984.

The event was spearheaded by John McDowell of Chadron, who was kind enough to forward us this snapshot of the group. Click on the photo to select a larger image.

In the early months of 2012, cousin Ray Scott was busy working with a grandson to scan a bevy of Maiden family photos that belonged to his mother, Minnie (Weston) Scott. Minnie's mother was Leota (Durham) Maiden, whose first husband was Ben Weston.

Shown here is a group of folks, most of whom we think we can identify. Please e-mail us if you have corrections or additions. In the back (l-to-r) are: Monroe Derrick, Leota Maiden, Dora (Derrick) Maiden, Bill Maiden, Minnie Weston, (unknown, but believed to be Ruth (Larson) Derrick, and _____ Derrick. In front are: Lettie Maiden, Henry Maiden, Nettie Maiden, Dorothy Maiden, and Betty Maiden.

Sorry, we can' give you a name for the dog. This undated photograph was taken on the Maiden homestead about 14 miles northeast of Chadron, Nebraska, probably in about 1930.
